September 2023 Editorial

A unique skills and career center in finance

As we all know, continuing professional development helps to keep individuals attractive on the job market. Many proactive people come to ISFB not only to update their technical and managerial skills, but also to develop their professional network and sometimes prepare for a new stage in their career. While some of our participants finance their initiative themselves, it is often their employers who pay for this investment. After all, continuing training and skills development in the broadest sense - including coaching, mentoring and career guidance - are also fundamental tools within establishments for retaining talent and supporting individuals in their career development.

The ISFB's associative dimension, bringing together more than 50 financial establishments throughout French-speaking Switzerland, represents a unique added value at every stage in the development of a professional career, from further training to career orientation and network development.

In this issue of September 2023, we look back at the importance of talent retention in a market that is struggling to recruit qualified experts. We discuss the factors to consider when choosing continuing education, as well as the role of reflection in career choices. This issue features four people from our ecosystem: a participant in one of our ISFB certificates, an ISFB expert and lecturer in private banking and occupational pensions, an ISFB skills assessment consultant and our career psychologist. Two recruitment consultants also give us their point of view on job hunting for seniors in the banking sector. All of them, in their own way, emphasize the importance of continuing training, but also of close exchanges to ensure career momentum.

I hope you enjoy reading this newsletter and look forward to seeing you at our Institute or at one of our forthcoming events.
