Interview with Eva Joss, credit risk expert (BCGE) and ISFB certified in Sustainable Finance

Ms. Joss, you recently completed the ISFB Sustainable Finance Certificate course. Why did you take this course?

I've been interested in sustainable development for a long time, and when my employer suggested I take the training leading to the ISFB Certificate in Sustainable FinanceI jumped at the chance. I love learning about new subjects, and this course enabled me to go beyond my preconceived ideas about sustainable finance.
I discovered the concrete mechanisms for combining profitability and positive impact, and better understood how to integrate these principles into my financial decisions. This has strengthened my ability to contribute to more responsible and sustainable finance in my day-to-day work.

What practical elements have you identified in this training that you feel can be put into practice or that you would like to question in your day-to-day professional life?

What I particularly appreciated about this training was the exchanges with the trainers and the group discussions. These interactions enriched my understanding of the different perspectives on sustainable development issues.
A striking example is the debate on palm oil. Although often criticized in public opinion, understanding its shortcomings and advantages was very instructive.
What I remember is the importance of thinking and acting in a multi-faceted way. It's essential to evolve and ask questions, even if you risk making a mistake. The worst thing would be to remain static and not question your practices.

What was your customer experience during the course?

My customer experience during this training course was very positive. The organization over several days and the diversity of speakers enriched the learning experience. Covering a variety of topics such as governance, impact measurement, philanthropy, as well as social and environmental impacts, enabled me to cover a wide range of facets of sustainable finance. This global approach gave me a comprehensive and nuanced view of the different issues and practices in the field.
