Interview with Fanny Wenger, participant in the ISFB Certificate in Banking Management and Adaptability

Fanny Wenger, Head of Recruitment for the Mirabaud Group, is one of 14 participants in the brand-new ISFB Certificate in Banking Management and Adaptability, developed by ISFB as part of its diversification strategy. She shares with us her impressions of this training program, unique in French-speaking Switzerland, which is aimed specifically at banking and finance executives.

Fanny Wenger, you are Head of Recruitment for the Mirabaud Group in Geneva, and are taking part in ISFB's management training program. Why did you specifically choose this program?

I decided to enroll in the ISFB training program with the aim of challenging my management practices with regard to the particularities of the banking world. When I consulted the program and the list of speakers, I realized that I would find pragmatic and topical contributions, while comparing my experience with that of other participants from the banking world.

The program is an opportunity to discuss strategic issues and exchange ideas with leaders in the same sector. But it's also an opportunity to develop your network and learn a little more about other players in the financial marketplace. My class was made up of executives from different banks, with whom we were able to exchange views on our realities in the field.

The training program is drawing to a close. What do you think have been the highlights of the program?

The content of the ISFB Banking Management and Adaptability Certificate program is vast. It comprises 9 modules, ranging from general management culture to general financial culture, including different approaches to leadership and field management, as well as more technical disciplines such as digital finance, foresight and long-term performance management.

Personally, I particularly appreciated the opportunity to tackle topical subjects such as Fintechs and artificial intelligence, but also to discover the techniques of foresight, forecast versus foresight, tactical versus strategic. I also have a special mention for the quality and variety of the speakers, each with their own training style.

Do you already see any impact from this training on your day-to-day life?

Absolutely. The courses are both theoretical and practical, using role-playing exercises such as simulated interviews. What's more, the timing of the course coincided perfectly with my year-end processes (appraisal interviews, announcements, budget and forecast definition), so the subjects covered were immediately transferable and applicable in my day-to-day work.

Would you recommend this management training course to your colleagues?

Absolutely, this course covers many aspects of the Manager's role. The course is accessible to all, whatever the size of your team, and you'll leave with a well-stocked toolbox. Compared with other management training courses available on the market, I'd say that the ISFB Certificate in Banking Management and Adaptability has a definite advantage: it brings together banking executives from the French-speaking part of Switzerland, giving them the opportunity to exchange views on their different practices and their appreciation of the challenges of their respective roles. It's a very rich sharing of experience. What's more, to hold a certificate issued by the ISFB represents, in my view, an important value for the employability of its holder, but also a recognition of the employer brand for the bank that has supported this training.
