Geneva, June 28, 2024 - The Institut Supérieur de Formation Bancaire (ISFB) and the Académie des administrateur-trice-s (ACAD) are combining their expertise to offer a training course specifically designed for directors working in banks in French-speaking Switzerland.

When it comes to risk management, the Board of Directors is responsible for ensuring that the resources deployed by the Executive Board comply with legal requirements (FINMA 2017/01). For this reason, ISFB and ACAD have partnered to create a brand new training program aimed specifically at current board members, as well as those wishing to take on such a role in the future. The courses take place on the ISFB premises.

The program consists of 4 non-consecutive days, taught by risk management experts and comprising the following modules:

• Directors and risk management
• General framework for banking risk management
• Market, liquidity and interest rate risks
• Compliance risks
• Operational risk and resilience
• Credit risk

On completion of the program, participants sit an individual examination and are awarded the ISFB Certificate in Risk Management for Directors. The certificate is managed by Jean-Philippe Bernard, a risk management specialist and independent director with a bank in French-speaking Switzerland. ACAD recognizes the ISFB Certificate in Risk Management for Directors as equivalent to the ACAD Risk Management module of the ACAD+ program, enabling participants in the ISFB Certificate to continue on to the ACAD+ certification program.

The first session of the ISFB Risk Management Certificate for Directors is planned for November and December 2024. Registration is now open.

ACAD is a training center for board members of Swiss companies. ACAD offers a complete ACAD+ training program, as well as continuing education courses that provide all the knowledge required to sit competently on the Board of Directors of a public limited company. It also offers the possibility of obtaining ACAD+ certification following an examination. ACAD was founded in 2010 in response to the growing need to professionalize the board member profession.

ISFB is the Competence and Career Center for banks and financial institutions in French-speaking Switzerland. The Institute offers services specific to the banking and finance sector in the field of continuing professional development, as well as career management services (assessment, coaching, guidance, outplacement). Founded in 1987 as a not-for-profit professional association, the ISFB currently brings together over fifty banking and finance establishments throughout French-speaking Switzerland.
