Guillaume de Boccard presents the ISFB Compliance Officer Certificate: training at the heart of banking regulatory issues

January 30, 2025

In this interview, he shares the keys to a program designed to meet the growing demands of compliance in the banking and financial sector.

Guillaume de Boccard, you are the Program Director of the ISFB Compliance Officer Certificate. Could you tell us about this program and who it is aimed at?

The ISFB Compliance Officer Certificate is a training program designed to meet the growing need for compliance in the banking and financial sector. The program is aimed at professionals wishing to acquire or enhance their compliance skills in an increasingly demanding regulatory environment.

It is primarily intended for :

  • Professionals working in compliance functions.
  • Lawyers and other specialists looking to specialize in banking compliance.
  • Career changers looking to enter this strategic sector.

This practice-oriented training is based on the realities of the field and the specificities of the Swiss regulatory framework.

In your opinion, what makes this program so rich and high quality?

The richness of the program rests on four fundamental pillars that make it a benchmark training program.
Firstly, all instructors are working professionals with significant experience in compliance and financial services. This guarantees hands-on, real-world learning.
Secondly, the teaching approach is resolutely pragmatic. Courses include numerous practical cases and case studies, enabling participants to apply their knowledge directly.
What's more, content is regularly updated to reflect the latest legislative, regulatory and technological developments.
Finally, participants benefit from a framework that encourages exchanges and the development of their network within the community of compliance specialists in Switzerland.

What do you see as the main challenges in the field of banking compliance, and how does this program provide concrete solutions?

Today's banking compliance challenges are manifold.
Constantly changing regulations and requirements in the fields of anti-money laundering, financial services, data protection, international taxation and risk management demand constant monitoring and rapid adaptation.
Advances in the digitization and automation of controls also pose challenges in terms of tools, technical skills, cybersecurity and data protection.
Interpreting global regulations within a Swiss framework is also a challenge. The balance between local compliance and international standards is crucial.
The program responds to these challenges by providing an in-depth understanding of regulatory obligations, as well as tools and methodologies to strengthen internal control processes. It also offers a vision of the compliance of the future, including emerging technologies and their impact on the compliance field.

What is your role as Program Director?

As Program Director, my role is to :

  • Oversee the pedagogical content and ensure that it remains aligned with the needs of the banking and finance sector.
  • Identify and propose lecturers to the Head of Continuing Education, Mr Christophe Nicod, and guarantee the quality of the courses given.
  • Act as a point of contact for participants, guiding them through the process and meeting their expectations.
  • Represent the program to stakeholders, such as partner institutions, and promote its development.
  • Participate in meetings of the ISFB Scientific Committee, which brings together all program managers and the ISFB Management.
