Christophe Nicod: “Customers, sustainability, technology: Skills are evolving on multiple fronts”

August 24, 2026

The world of finance is changing, and so are the skills in demand; the ISFB offers three training programs for the start of the school year that address the sector’s major challenges.

In our discussions with professionals and institutions, three trends are becoming increasingly pronounced: better-informed—and therefore more demanding—clients; sustainable finance, which is maturing as it refocuses on risk management and value creation; and technological innovations that are gradually reshaping the landscape of finance.

For professionals, the question becomes very practical: What skills should they add to their expertise today in order to keep pace with future changes in their field?

Stand out by demonstrating a holistic understanding of complex client needs

Taxation, retirement planning, estate planning, real estate, investing, and business succession are rarely completely separate issues for a client. The ISFB Certificate in Wealth Planning, led by Albert Gallegos, helps participants develop the necessary framework to better connect these areas and gain a more comprehensive view of a client’s financial situation. It is particularly aimed at those who wish to broaden their scope of advice and develop a more cross-functional approach.

Gain a deeper understanding of regulatory developments and better integrate ESG into our practices

Sustainable finance is now an integral part of financial products, advisory services, client expectations, and the regulations governing the financial industry. Led by Antoine Mach, the ISFB Sustainable Finance Certificate helps participants understand ESG criteria, various sustainable investment solutions, applicable regulations, and how these translate into professional practice. This specialization enables professionals to support clients for whom sustainability issues are no longer solely a matter of personal conviction, but also involve risk management, regulatory transparency, and the identification of long-term investment opportunities.

Understanding the Technologies That Are Disrupting and Transforming Traditional Finance

Artificial intelligence, data, the cloud, fintech, blockchain, and new digital distribution channels are no longer the sole concern of IT teams. The ISFB Future of Finance Certificate Program, led by Lino Finini, provides the keys to understanding these technologies, their applications, and the opportunities and risks they present. The goal is not to become a technologist, but to be able to navigate an increasingly digital environment, understand it, question it, and maintain control over decision-making.

Which training program should I choose?

Three distinct themes for evolving professions. If your clients’ expectations are rising along with their increasingly complex needs, take a look at Wealth Planning. If ESG issues are playing a greater role in your business and interactions, choose Sustainable Finance. If technology is changing the way you work and opening up new areas of application, the Future of Finance is likely worth your attention.

Three programs, three complementary approaches, but a single goal: to strengthen and develop skills that are relevant and useful in light of changes in the financial sector.
