“This experience helped me clarify my career choice”
May 4, 2026
Aimed at students and recent graduates who want to gain practical experience in banking and finance, the ISFB Summer School offers an intensive immersion in the heart of the financial center. Through presentations by professionals, case studies, and direct exchanges with industry players, it aims to bridge the gap between academic training and operational realities. A few months after the 2025 summer session, a former participant looks back on this experience and the role it played in his entry into the job market.
Loris Bossel, you attended the ISFB Summer School during the summer session of 2025. What stands out to you about the experience?
What stood out most to me was the quality of the discussions with the speakers and other participants, as well as the highly practical nature of the topics covered. The Summer School allowed me to deepen my understanding of several key areas of finance, while developing a broader perspective on the sector’s current challenges.
I particularly appreciated being able to connect academic concepts with their direct application in the professional world, especially through practical case studies, market discussions, and highly insightful feedback.
Beyond the content itself, this experience also reinforced my desire to work in a challenging, international, and investment-focused environment. I also really enjoyed Geneva, which has strengthened my desire to work in this region.
You are nearing the end of your Master’s program in finance at HEC Lausanne. What are your plans for the future?
I am currently nearing the end of my Master’s degree in Finance at HEC Lausanne, and my short-term goal is to secure a private equity internship in Geneva by January 2027.
This next step represents an excellent opportunity for me to put into practice the skills I acquired during my studies, particularly in financial analysis, business valuation, and strategic understanding of business models.
In the long term, my goal is to secure a permanent position in private equity, so that I can support companies’ growth, participate in high-value-added transactions, and advance in a field that combines analysis, strategic vision, and value creation. Furthermore, these two weeks at ISFB have been instrumental in helping me make this career choice.
Would you recommend that students or recent college graduates enroll in the ISFB Summer School?
Absolutely, I would recommend it without hesitation.
The ISFB Summer School is an excellent opportunity for students and recent graduates to supplement their academic training with a highly market-oriented and practical approach.
It provides a better understanding of the financial sector’s expectations, offers opportunities to connect with inspiring professionals, and helps you expand your network. It also allows you to get to know yourself better, explore the various career paths available, and gain a clearer picture of them.
This is a particularly valuable experience for those who wish to refine their career plans and prepare for a career in finance by gaining a more concrete understanding of the field.
